Emalie turns 1

It's hard to believe that my baby is already 1. It seems like just the other day I was waiting for the day to come for her to be born. And now, a whole year has passed. The older I get, the faster time flies....

Doing one of her favorite things, climbing the stairs

My mom had her knee replaced just a few days before Emi's birthday, so we went to her rehab center and opened presents there with Grandma.

Lights, music, and sound, what more can you ask for in a toy?!?!?!?

After we left Grandma, we went to Red Robin for birthday lunch. Emi enjoyed it, but its Dad's favorite too! If you sign up, you get a free burger for your birthday.

Emi just got free birthday Sundae, but she enjoyed it...

We had cake at home, just the 4 of us. Emalie was in heaven! She loved it.

Thought it was great fun to dig in with both hands!

Believe it or not, she ate most of that cake! And was up for hours that night, bouncing off the walls! : )

And for Emi:

1. Were you married at the time of the birth? Yep, just over 5 years.

2. What were your reactions when you found out you were pregnant? We were just elated! We had been trying for 2 years, had gone through rounds of fertility, including a failed IUI, but nothing. We had just decided to move to Utah, and knew we were losing our health insurance when we found out we were pregnant. But it all worked out ok.

3. How old were you? Just turned 34 when she was born

4. How did you find out you were pregnant? Took a test--not even sure why, but I did. Didn't think it was positive--Chris had to convince me it was.

5. Who did you tell first? Don't remember for sure. I think Chris told Carol before we even got results from the doctor, but my mom was first other than that.

6. Did you want to find out the sex? Yes

7. Due date: April 8

8. Did you deliver child early or late? 3 weeks early. Went in to the doctor for regular appointment--BP had been slowly going up again--Dr. said, Is there any reason we shouldn't have this baby? So we went in that night.

9. Did you have morning sickness? I think from the moment of conception

10. What did you crave? Nothing specific that I can remember

11. Who irritated you the most? Nobody really--it was a pretty good pregnancy, even with the BP issue
12. What is her birth order? 2nd

13. How many pounds did you gain throughout the pregnancy? 14, but already had plenty to spare

14. Did you have any complications during your pregnancy?Dealt with the BP issue again, and was on medication, but was pretty normal, considering...

15. Where did you give birth to your child? Alta View

16. How many hours were you in labor? induced at around 11pm, no real contractions until dr. broke water at 9 am, she was born at 1137 am.

17. Who drove you to the hospital? Chris

18. Who watched? Other than the typical medical personnel, it was just Chris.

19. Did you take medicine to ease the pain? Yep--had to have epidural 3 times, because it would only take on one side...

20. How much did she weigh? 6 lbs 11 oz

21. Why did you name her the name you picked? Just really liked it--had talked about it since Aynsli was about 6 months old...came down to Kenlie or Emalie...

22. Who was the first person you called? my mom--she and Aynsli were there within about 20 minutes

23. Who were your first visitor's? my mom and big sister Aynsli...also Aunt Mary, Rian, Ani and Oliver, and Devin and Marissa came to visit.

Coming soon...

I have been harassed and hounded (nicely I admit) to get on the ball and update this blog. I don't know why, its only been 6 1/2 weeks since my last post! : ) Ok, Ok, I get it. Somebody out there has some interest in what is going on in our lives. So for you, I will try to get myself into gear, and post some of the events that have happened in the last while....for there are many noteworthy ones, and a few that even have pictures.

Cherry Dress

My mom made this darling cherry dress for Aynsli before she was born. Aynsli wore it her first Sunday at church--which was when she was nearly a month old, but had been home only 1 day. So I took pictures of Emalie wearing the same dress on her first Sunday at church, when she was just a week and a half old.

She was so tiny then!
Then I took a picture of Aynsli in the same dress when she was about a year old. So I thought I'd do the same with Emalie. Its funny, Emalie started out smaller than Aynsli, and remained so for quite some time. It wasn't until about 9 months, when I started Emalie on regular milk and table food, that she took off and quickly passed Aynsli's statistics.

So even though she's not quite a year old yet, close, I thought I'd better do it before she out grows the dress. And she is such a wild one, she doesn't sit still for a minute, so these are all action shots!

What a girl!

FEBRUARY

February is always a busy month for us. We have Chris' birthday, Valentines Day, our Anniversary, and my birthday all in 3 1/2 weeks time. So things are usually crazy. This year we decided to add a few things to the month....Aynsli went to her very first birthday party--it was a Princess Party. Wesley was here to visit for the first 2 weeks, all three kids chose to get the stomach flu and throw up, Chris got sick on his birthday, then I got it. We got over the flu, and Emi got a cold, which I then got and it turned into the worst cold I've had in a long time...so I was sick for about 10 days, including our anniversary...then Chris got it and he was sick for about 2 weeks. So on my birthday he stayed home sick, and I took the girls to the eye doctor, where they both had their eyes checked and dialated, so it was a 5 hour process. Thankfully their eyes both look good--Aynsli is getting new lenses in her glasses, and Emalie is doing great. And we are all happy February is done!

Chris' birthday cake

We celebrated even though he wasn't feeling too hot!
Emi started climbing the stairs in January. I was going to upload video of her doing it, but she didn't really cooperate when we filmed it, and it takes forever, so when I get more video where she is cooperative going up the stairs, I'll load it up!
